Activities in Gothenburg
GothenburgWhen you hear the word Sweden, do you immediately think of IKEA, Astrid Lindgren, Elkburger and Stockholm? If so, this will change after visiting Gothenburg, as the city on Sweden's romantic west coast is considered the secret capital of the Scandinavian kingdom. After all, King Charles IX himself laid the foundation stone for Gothenburg and made sure that you can marvel at unique sights such as the Christina Church and the Nya Älvsborg fortress at the harbour entrance, which can be viewed during a city tour. Speaking of the harbour, this is not only a great tourist attraction due to its excellent restaurants, but it still embodies Gothenburg's seafaring tradition among shrieking seagulls and the sounds of ships against a blue sky. After a serving of home-made Köttbullar on the promenade, a boat trip to the famous archipelago of Gothenburg is also part of a holiday in Sweden's second-largest city. As well as a trip to the former workers' quarter Haga, a neighbourhood that, with its innumerable wooden houses, cafés and antique shops, radiates a good deal of Swedish comfort even on the dingiest of days. So, let's go to Gothenburg!
